Growing Pollinator Gardens

Who are our pollinators, and why are they important? What can we do to reverse their population declines? Join us for a class by Kristina, President of Pollinator Project Rogue Valley, as she answers these questions in the hopes that we’ll “bee inspired” to become pollinator champions. Learn how to look at your garden or yard with this question in mind: Would a bee like to live here?

Herbal Skin Care Class

Would you like skin care solutions specifically formulated for your skin? Are you tired of harmful chemicals in skin care products? Join us to learn as Suzie, a trained energetic herbalist, shows us how fun and easy it is to make your own masks, salves, toners, oils and serums using easy-to-grow herbs and other yummy ingredients. In this hands-on class you’ll use natural skin care ingredients and get expert tips so your recipes turn out.

Lavender Propagation Class

Tailored for the home gardener, whether you have a green thumb or not, this class will teach you simple techniques for propagating and growing bountiful and fragrant lavender. Join lavender growers, John and Caryn, and get your own lavender starter plants that you cut and re-pot during class to take home! All supplies are provided. We recommend comfortable gardening clothes and gloves, along with hats, sun protection and water!

Culinary Lavender Class 

Interested in cooking with lavender? There are different kinds of lavender and some won’t work in the kitchen! Join lavender experts, Bonnie and Caryn, as they teach you to identify culinary lavender and learn methods for harvesting and preparing it to use in your kitchen. Discover many ways you can incorporate culinary lavender into your foods and beverages. Then they’ll demo how to make simple syrup, and serve it over ice cream for you to taste!

  • Take home a lavender cookbook, a small vial culinary oil, and sachet of culinary buds.
  • Snacks: We demo how to make simple syrup, and serve over ice cream

Wreath Class

Enjoy the beauty and aroma of beautiful lavender flowers by making a wreath you can hang at home. Join us for this is a fun class to enjoy on your own or with friends. Bonnie and Lana will supply the lavender, materials and easy instructions. You’ll enjoy the scent and beauty for weeks or even months to come. If kept out of the sun your lavender will dry but continue to look and smell lovely.

  • Take home your lavender wreath.

Lavender Essential Oil/Hydrosol Distilling

Learn the essentials! Come to learn firsthand how pure, high-quality lavender essential oil is distilled. John, Caryn and Bob will introduce you to the different kinds of lavender that grow in Southern Oregon – perhaps you’ll find a new favorite. In the class, you will harvest the lavender, distill essential oil and hydrosol, and bottle them. You will be working in the lavender field so we recommend comfortable gardening clothes and gloves, along with hats, sun protection and water!

  • Take home a 5 ml bottle of essential oil and 8 oz. bottle of hydrosol distilled by the class.
  • Dates & Times: July 28 or Aug 3 or Aug 11: 9:00-11:30
  • Cost: $35

Lavender wands have been used since Victorian days to pleasantly scent and decorate drawers, closets, and small rooms. You can even put them on the dash of your car for a fresh pleasant aroma. Join as Bonnie and Lana provide the tools, supplies and instructions you need to make this relaxing traditional craft. Enjoy the soft lavender scent from your wand for years to come.

Join lavender experts, John and Caryn, for a field tour and our down-on-the-farm version of a seminar on all things lavender – including history, varieties, uses, propagation, growing, and more! Then enjoy a hands-on harvesting and essential oil distilling session of lavender oil and hydrosol. You will be working in the lavender field so we recommend comfortable gardening clothes and gloves, along with hats, sun protection and water! Feel free to bring a picnic for afterward!

  • Take home your distilled 5 ml Lavender essential oil and 8 oz. Lavender hydrosol, as well as an informational packet on cultivating and using lavender

Lavender Harvesting & Processing 101 

Lavender thrives in Southern Oregon, so this is a great class to learn how to harvest and enjoy it! Join us and starting in the field, you’ll learn how to best cut and bundle fresh lavender. Back in the barn, Bob and Caryn will teach you to hang the fresh lavender to dry and use a simple pillowcase to de-bud dried lavender quickly and easily. You will be working in the lavender field so we recommend comfortable gardening clothes and gloves, along with hats, sun protection and water!

  • Take home a bundle of fresh lavender to dry at home and dried aromatic buds that you process in class.
  • Dates & Times: Aug 5, 10:00 am-11:30 am or  1:00 pm-2:30 pm
  • Cost: $25
